Diane and John L. are in town for the holidays and sharing some time with Amy and me.

Passage Irish Bar with Friends

Passage Irish Bar and Kitchen

Getting together in Queens with friends, planning the trip to Cuba and catching up.  AND REAL Shepherd's Pie!!! Most American versions of Shepherd's Pie is made with beef. Shepherds do not tend cows; they tend sheep.

Historic Irish Steak and Seafood

Notes

O'NEILL'S first opened its doors as a restaurant on December 5, 1933, the day Prohibition ended. Originally founded as the Plateau Tavern by George O'Neill, Sr., the establishment has now been family owned and operated for 85 years.

Reunion at Bridie's

Bridie's Bar and Grill  http://www.bridiesbarandgrill.com/

Amy had the second annual (?) Reunion of her elementary school (PS49) at Bridie's in Queens. The group had arranged for a price fix meal with salad and penne ala vodka served family style, a choice of 4 entrees (did anyone have the chicken?), and cheesecake.

Not thrilled with being served ice in my cider or an Irish bar selling cottage pie as Shepherds pie. The skirt steak and the penne were the best.

Fish and Chips

Skirt Steak with potato and broccoli

Icy Cheesecake

Platter of House Salad with balsamic vinaigrette

Platter of Caesar Salad

Penne Ala Vodka

Cottage Pie - Sold as Shepherds Pie
