Stopping here for a restaurant week dinner.  We were lucky to get in: We should have had a reservation, they were turning regulars away.

Disappointment at the Pilsener Haus in Hoboken

Pilsener Haus & Biergarten

Amy and I went for brunch. I should have left when the waitress told me they were substituting Chicken for Pork in the WIENER SCHNITZEL, or maybe I should have just had the chicken fingers at half the price.

Lunch with Yvonne and Michael at Queens Beer House

Queens Beer House

Queens Beer House, 92-50 59th Ave Elmhurst NY 11373

We headed here under the assumption this was a German Beer Garden - the Google information has been updated to "Beer House."  It is not a German restaurant at all.

We were joined by Yvonne Rigby and her 6-year-old son Michael.  Once we wrapped our head around the Non-German menu, the food was pretty good.

While the large German Pretzel was perfect, it seems a bit overpriced for an oversize hot pretzel.

I had the Fish and Chips.  The chips/fries were great.  They had a tomato salsa topping that puddled and made the bottom soggy.  I could have used a bit more tartar sauce.

Amy had the Reuben Sandwich with Fries.  The meat was not New York Deli meat, but the high-quality bread, excellent fries, and presentation were more than enough to make this a great meal.

Yvonne had The German Bratwurst, another great presentation.

Michael had the Bianca Flatbread Pizza:  Mozzarella, Ricotta, Onions, White Mushrooms, White Truffle Oil, and Basil.

The Schmankerl Stube Bavarian Restaurant, Hagerstown, MD

Where to start about this first meal stop on our trip to Texas...

We had a [presumably] new server.  So, things did not go well.  Enough said on that.

Amy had the Herzhafter Sauerbraten  Fall apart good, but a little more vinegar was needed, but that is just our taste.

I had the Wiener Schnitzel, great crust, with Spätzle:

And of course, BEER!

The house special this week is the: Grilled Tournedos of Beef Filet topped with Seasoned Lump Crab, served with Potato Snow and Vegetable of the Day - Not sure how German, but definitely Maryland.

Brunch at Schmidt's Restaurant und Sausage Haus

Is saurbraten out?

The historic 'German Village' neighborhood

Amy does the beer Stein press:  it seems the more you drink it the lighter it gets

This looks good. But no not today.

Sausage sampler and saurbraten with spetzel

Huge Peanut butter cream puff

This horseradish was full when we started this meal
