Lisa Leonard and Our Trip to the North Fork

In her youth, Lisa spent several summers on the North Fork with her family.  She wanted to revisit some of the landmarks she remembered.  First:  The Modern Snack Bar.

It has been called the 'Modern' Snack Bar from the very beginning.











We proceeded to the Woodside Orchard for cider:  Apricot is the special flavor this trip.

We then visited Greenport Pottery




Then, off to dinner.

Pre-Theatre Hadestown at Il Forno

A quick bite before seeing the new musical taking Broadway by storm: Hadestown. 



 We had intended to eat at Carve Cafe on 8th Ave @ 45th Street, but when we arrived, it looked more like a deli than a dinner spot.  So we walked along 8th Ave and found Il Forno.

Great flatbread! Seasonal veggies meant just that.  Asparagus and arugula. 

Beet Salad


Hadestown was a great show.  First, we were in the back of a very cramped balcony, so Amy suggested I ask for different seating (with legroom!).  The usher helped, and I sat in a regular straight-back chair.




The show started pretty much on time.  Starting with a great jazz number.  About the 5th or 6th number, the STAGE MANAGER comes over the PA system calmly saying "Hold, please.  Actors would you please exit the stage.  Musicians would you also please exit the stage."  The house lights came up and there was a medical emergency in the orchestra seating.

After about 15 minutes.  The show resumed.  GREAT SHOW.

Start of Memorial Day Weekend 2017

DOPO La Spiaggia Hamptons

Amy found this restaurant with a GREAT price fix. Three courses for $35.  It makes us wonder what restaurant food is really worth... my dishes are on the menu at $23+$26+$15.

POLIPO / $24 grilled octopus, cherry tomatoes, basil

TONNO / $23 tuna tartare, marinated cucumbers, avocado



CAPESANTE / $35 pan seared scallops, Castelluccio lentil puree, vegetables

RAVIOLI / $26 carbonara sauce, parmesan, guanciale
